Text:  McDougall Littell Algebra 2

EXTRA HELP TIMES:    Everyday 7:45am

HOMEWORK will be assigned and checked daily.  To receive full credit for the homework, it must be 100% complete with all work shown. Homework checks will be conducted in a variety of manners.  For a completion check, homework less than fully complete, but more than 50% completed will receive a grade of 50% for that day’s assignment.  Homework with less than 50% of the assignment completed will receive a grade of 0 for that day.  Other checks will involve writing the answers to selected problems, writing the work to selected problems or working problems of a similar nature to the homework. Students are expected to come to class with the odd numbered problems checked and corrected or with a list of questions.  A homework grade will be assigned at the end of each chapter based upon the percentage of homework completed versus the amount of homework assigned.  .

QUIZZES may be either announced or unannounced.  Missed quizzes will not be made up unless the teacher elects to have the student do so. There will be a mid-semester and end-of-semester cumulative quiz.  These quizzes are mandatory and must be made up if missed.  The cumulative quiz grade will replace all missed quiz grades to that date.

TESTS will be given at the end of each unit of study.  Tests will be given on Monday or Thursday.  Makeup tests will be given on WEB, during lunch or before/after school.  A missed test must be made up before the next scheduled test or a grade of zero will result.  The student must make the arrangements with the teacher.

A comprehensive FINAL EXAM will be given at the end of the semester.

A loose-leaf notebook with dividers is recommended as an efficient method to organize the materials for the semester.  A sample is always maintained in the room and available to students.

TEXTBOOKS:  A textbook will be issued to each student.  The book should be covered for protection.  Remember that the textbook is the property of Walton High School .  You are responsible for your books and will be assessed a replacement fee for loss or damage.

EXTRA HELP:  Times are listed above.  Please take advantage of WEBs, as they are perfect days for extra help. .  For help outside of the specified times or WEB, arrangements must be made with me.   Be certain to seek help early and often.

REPORTING GRADES: The students will receive 6 week, 12 week, and semester report cards.  It is the responsibility of the student to keep his/her parents informed of his/her grades.  Occasionally grade cut-ups will be given to the students to keep them and their parents informed

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:  Each student is expected to do his/her own work.  Any student providing information and/or sharing information on a test or quiz will be disciplined in accordance with the Cheating Policy outlined in the "Walton Student Handbook".  Any student found to have changed test/quiz answers after the paper has been returned and resubmits it for grading is considered in violation of the Walton Cheating Policy.

PARENTAL CONTACT: When I find it necessary I will make an effort to contact parents.  It is my expectation that parents will be keeping close tabs on their students.  If a student falls below the level that their parents expect them to maintain I ask that the parents initiate contact with me as early as possible to allow ample time to correct the problem.  Please do not assume that the student is going to fix the problem on his or her own.  It is best to contact me by email at richard.gesick@cobbk12.org or you may try voice mail ( box # 457 ).  (770-578-3225)
